AGSRCA

GOALS

Of more than 5000 of the world’s wildlife species threatened with extinction, 25% are mammals, 11% birds. The reptile, amphibian and fish species that have been assessed as threatened are 20% of reptiles, 25% of amphibians and 34% of fish.

The loss of Australian wildlife species has been disastrous with at least 19 mammal, 20 bird and 3 amphibian species now extinct. Mainly due to loss of habitat, 43 mammal, 50 bird, 29 amphibian, 512 reptile and 17 freshwater fish species are threatened.

The AGSRCA concentrates on conservation and recovery programs of native species which are classified as endangered or threatened; also on rare and domestic species and animals used for specialised medical or veterinary research.
